Happy Earth Day 2025, my loves. This year's theme, "Our Power, Our Planet," really resonated with me. It conveyed a message that aligns closely with my daily work. We possess an undeniable power to embrace and empower the care of not only our immediate environment on Earth but also ourselves. Imagine yourself as a planet. When we nurture and care for it intentionally, beauty and growth naturally follow. This is one of my favorite aspects of styling you—witnessing the transformation in women when they allow themselves the power and permission to embrace the light and fully believe they deserve the best. Your Power, Your Body, Your Style. It's your time to achieve great things.

When I began delving more deeply into the world of styling in Portland back in 2000, sustainable fashion emerged as a major trend. The city became a hub for exploring ways to improve. Designers were raising the bar, and fashion shows were dedicated to sustainable style. It was a revolutionary movement that left a lasting impact.

Fast forward to today, a popular topic among several clients is how to commit more to fashion that is mindful of both process and design. Sustainable fashion has officially become a lasting trend. The challenging part is figuring out HOW to integrate it into your daily life.

Here's the reality. As we advance to 2025, embracing and endorsing fashion that gives 'power to the planet' has become more effortless. It is nearly outdated not to consider the origins and creators of every garment and accessory.

Similar to styling Women from head to toe, I embrace the High-Low philosophy. It's perfectly fine to begin incorporating more sustainable items into your wardrobe gradually, one piece at a time. Progress can be slow. No one is judging you for not being dressed sustainably from head to toe. I understand that some advocates might disagree with me, but my perspective on style and life is this: it's about the desire to make a change and improve. One step at a time, in your own style and rhythm.

So, where to start... right? Which brands are currently doing this? Let's begin here. I recently was featured by one of my absolute FAVORITES, which happens to be a stunning example of sustainable design. I first discovered UASHMAMA in 2016 in Montecatini Alto. It was love at first sight. The original shop, nestled high up, had a tangible heart and history. I knew this was something uniquely special that I had to own, share, and explore further. (This is crucial for me when it comes to sharing with clients about design + The story behind the brand ). And oh, does UASHMAMA have a rich history and story. You'll fall in love with the family just like I did. Check out a few of my seasonal favorites from them here. And while you're at it, here's a little perk if something catches your eye.(code reneelarastyle @ checkout)

There are numerous brands doing amazing work that are worth exploring. Ethical fashion is trending, so join the movement. Interested in discovering some of my top picks? I enjoy showcasing and tagging them regularly at @reneelarastyle. Follow me there! I enjoy connecting with you and sharing many outstanding brands, designers, and shop owners.

Embrace your power to improve, not just for the planet, but for yourself. Cherish yourself, my loves, with each fashionable step you make. Move to your own beat. Follow that rhythm and strive to nourish yourself with moments that uplift your day. There's no better way to live stylishly than by embracing your joy and feeling your best. Stay well, dress well, and have fun with your daily style. Fashion is meant to bring you joy. Always.
